Hanes (PPAI 191138, Gold) is a consumer brand with a strong reputation for high-quality, eco-friendly, consumer-forward apparel. In the past year, the Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based company has undergone significant changes in leadership within Hanes and Champion, leading to the decision to sell one of its most well-known brands.
According to the latest reports, Authentic Brands Group (ABG) has agreed to buy the sportswear label Champion from HanesBrands for just over $1 billion. Hanes had been looking for a buyer since last year. At press time, the sale was not yet final and the future of the Champion brand is unclear. Champion represents about $2 billion of Hanes’ 2023 sales and is the company’s top activewear brand.
