Understanding Generation Z
In the March issue, Paul A. Kiewiet, MAS+, CIP, CPP, a former distributor, the executive director of the Michigan Promotional Products Association and an industry coach and consultant, wrote “Get Ready For The Next Wave: Generation Z,” on the next generation of consumers and members of the workforce. Generation Z, born between 1995 and 2015, is bringing to the table unique ways to think, problem-solve and communicate.
As a parent, former coach and current multi-line rep in the promotional products industry, I love the generational interaction and motivations of people. Learning positive communication skills among all people is of utmost importance, every day.

MiPPA’s LEAD Event Educates State Legislators On The Promo Market
On March 7, the Michigan Promotional Professionals Association (MiPPA) hosted its fourth annual Legislative Education Action Day (LEAD) breakfast in Lansing, Michigan, at the Anderson House of Representatives Building. The breakfast drew 46 state representatives, state senators and staff members to meet with industry professionals and learn more about the promotional products market in their state.
I attended as a member of MIPPA and a small-business owner. It was great to meet with our Michigan legislators and staff. Thanks to all who attended. Small business is so important to Michigan’s economy. The opportunity to advocate for small businesses and the promotional marketing industry was an honor.

The PPAI Expo Does It Again
The PPAI Expo 2019 was another extraordinary example of the promotional products industry’s largest and longest-running trade show. The Expo ran January 14-17 and drew a record-breaking 13,000 attendees representing 4,000 distributor companies—the largest attendance in the past 10 years, to connect with more than 1,220 exhibiting companies occupying nearly one million square feet at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
As always, PPAI and their amazing staff did a spectacular job creating value and making everyone feel welcome and at home. Well done. To those of you on the sidelines, get involved. The tremendous talent of the folks in our industry is uncanny and remarkable.
