In celebration of Earth Month, Threadfast Apparel (PPAI 622344, S6) has launched the Earth Month Campaign, a multi-faceted program tackling real problems, the supplier said in a statement, including pollution, climate change, deforestation and the corruption of the Earth’s systems. As part of the campaign, it is collaborating with industry partner supplier alphabroder (PPAI 156993, S16) to offer an “Earth Pack” consisting of an array of sustainable styles.
Threadfast Apparel is a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which trains farmers to care for the environment, enhance biodiversity and respect workers’ rights and well-being. Threadfast has sourced more than 400,000 kilograms of Better Cotton to date and continues to increase its goals. It is also using recycled polyester (rPET), as it helps the collective fight against pollution and climate change. Threadfast and its rPET suppliers are utilizing plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean, while producing garments using less energy, less water and fewer CO2 emissions. In 2020, Threadfast sourced the recycled polyester equivalent to six million plastic bottles, it says.
The new sample pack highlights the brand’s sustainable sourcing, and it is planting one tree for every Earth Pack purchased. It is doing so through the One Tree Planted Organization which allows individuals and organizations to participate in reforestation initiatives all over the world. Threadfast is also offering to plant one tree for every person who posts a photo in support of Earth Month 2021, through April 30. The rules can be found here.
Katy Mendoza, creative director of Threadfast Apparel, says, “We are extremely proud of this campaign and the positive impact it may yield. We are inspired by our planet and we ultimately aim to protect and restore it, joining forces with like-minded organizations and individuals. The beauty of this campaign is that there are many ways to get involved whether you’re in the industry or not. We hope to inspire whomever this message reaches so we can collectively create a better future for our planet.”
