Scott Hareid, owner of Hareid Marketing, has been inducted into the Upper Midwest Association of Promotional Products (UMAPP) Hall of Fame. He has run Hareid Marketing out of Farmington, Minnesota, for over 20 years, and has served as a devoted volunteer and steadfast champion of the promotional products community.

  • He served as president of UMAPP in 2013.
  • Additionally, he sat on the PPAI Board of Directors as the Regional Association Council – now operating as the Regional Relations Committee – delegate to Board from 2014-2017.

“Scott has made extraordinary contributions to the promotional products industry in general, but most specifically to UMAPP and to PPAI,” says Sue Selseth, UMAPP’s executive director. “Scott’s dedication to UMAPP began many years ago as a committee member, then board director, executive board member, president, past president and then committee member again.”

Stacey Felice, CAS, PPAI’s regional relations liaison, cites regional volunteerism as a key part of the motor that keeps the promo industry running.

“The Regional Community truly is the heart of the industry,” Felice says. “It is humbling to see individuals recognized for all their hard work. From countless hours helping at regional events to holding a position on a regional board, these individuals are true gems. PPAI truly holds its relationship with the regional associations through the RRC to high standards, which helps collaborate while elevating the members and events.”

Leadership, Dedication and Contributions

UMAPP honored Hareid by inducting him into its Hall of Fame and expressed “sincere appreciation of [his] leadership, dedication and contributions.”

Hareid’s dedication to volunteerism within his regional association is evident in the countless hours of his time and effort and advocacy touching companies throughout the industry.

  • In 2005, he began his journey with UMAPP, joining and leading various committees initiated by the regional association.
  • From 2008-2010, he joined the UMAPP Board of Directors.
  • Over the next four years, he would serve the roles of secretary, treasurer, vice president and, finally, president of the UMAPP Board.
  • From 2014-2017 he served as the RAC delegate to the PPAI Board of Directors.

Hareid was also one of those responsible for introducing UMAPP into the world of end buyer events. UMAPP’s first end buyer show was held in 2014 and was quickly a success. The show has continued to grow and in 2020, UMAPP rebranded the event and moved it to a larger location. It now serves as the main trade show for the regional association.

Scott set the bar high with his dedication to the association. His leadership and wisdom have propelled UMAPP into a stronger place,” Selseth says. “It is with great honor that Scott Hareid is recognized with the Hall of Fame award.”

  • He has also participated in various PPAI volunteer programs and has been a L.E.A.D. attendee, advocating for promo among U.S. legislators.

Hareid called the induction “an unforgettable day with wonderful memories that I’ll always cherish.”
