Norman Humphrey, a salesman for Wolfe Detroit Envelope Company, founded the company in response to his customers’ requests for a stronger envelope. His early designs were marketed to the travel and automotive industries.

In the 1970s, Humphrey’s son, Glenn, took over the operation and in 1991, the thriving business was sold to Ennis (PPAI 109056, Silver), one of the largest private-label printed business product suppliers in the U.S.
