How did your company get its start?
Shurhold Industries was founded in 1973 as the premier manufacturer of detailing hardware and accessories in the boating and yachting industry. In 1997, after I took over the company, we began to expand our product line to include everything a person would need to keep their boat, car or RV in peak condition. Over 50 years after our inception, Shurhold has firmly established a reputation for building quality, USA-manufactured products that our customers know, love and trust.
What led your company to enter the promotional products market?
In 2016, Shurhold introduced its own 5-gallon bucket into the marketplace, featuring a durable rope handle and sturdy construction. As its popularity rose, an idea was formed: Why not let our customers put their logo on the bucket? We began to navigate this new space, investing in manufacturing techniques and equipment. As this program grew in popularity, we were exposed to new industries and customers who were interested in having us manufacture their own customized products. Joining PPAI was the logical next step so we could better connect with an even wider group of passionate businesses looking for a unique way to promote their brand.
What’s your favorite thing about being in the promotional products industry?
It’s truly exciting to interact with customers across so many different walks of life, allowing us to receive insights and gain new perspectives along the way. Since we entered the promotional products industry, I’ve had the pleasure of working with large distributors of chemicals, small home repair services, paint supply stores, youth softball teams and even the food service industry, just to name a few. Every one of those customers has offered us the chance to learn and grow as a company. What’s better than that?
Why did you join PPAI?
Shurhold joined PPAI to better establish ourselves in the promotional products marketplace, gain access to the tools and insight that PPAI has to offer and increase our visibility to new potential customers. We look forward to attending the shows that are offered, meeting our customers, gaining insight from other manufacturers and learning how we can continue to grow our line of customizable merchandise.
