PPAI's Public Affairs Initiative

PPAI strives to provide leadership to advance corporate responsibility efforts in the promotional products industry. The Association stays up to date on the current concepts, responsibilities and corporate standards for manufacturing, importing and exporting products in the global arena. Its resources bring industry members best practices to ensure consistency across an organization’s product quality program and meeting end buyers' expectations for safety, social and environmental assurances.

 

The Issues

PPAI is tracking legislation, agency rulemaking and court decisions that may affect the promotional products industry. While the primary focus is on U.S. laws at both the federal and state levels, PPAI also monitors developments in Canada, Europe and other areas of concern for the industry. Some of the issues the Association is following include:

 

Regulation And Court Cases: PPAI is tracking regulatory and legal developments at the state and federal level, as well as in Canada, the European Union and elsewhere to provideup-to-date information to helps our members comply with relevant laws.

 

Product Safety/Quality: PPAI has gathered resources focusing on quality management to ensure consistency across an organization’s product safety program. These programs typically focus on implementing and monitoring four quality components – planning, assurance, control and improvement.

 

Sustainability: PPAI has gathered resources focusing on sustainability to help organizations decrease their carbon footprints, reduce waste and comply with sustainability regulations, such as emissions reporting.

 

Import/Exports: There are numerous concepts, responsibilities and corporate standards for importing and exporting products in the global arena. PPAI is tracking the procedures and processes required for an organization comply with all applicable import, export and trade compliance laws of the United States and other countries in which they conduct business.

Public Affairs Solutions

PPAI's public affairs efforts touch on issues important to almost every aspect of the promotional products industry. Fortunately, the Association's members offer a range of services and expertise that can support and streamline industry companies' processes. PPAI's Solutions Center features vetted and verified PPAI-member solutions providers and information that addresses the promo industry's broad range of needs.

Advocating For The Promo Industry

Rachel Zoch is PPAI’s Public Affairs & Research Editor, dedicated to providing up-to-date information to help members understand their obligations in the regulatory landscape. Previously, she wrote about trends and products for PPAI Media.

 

Zoch brings over 20 years of experience as a reporter, writer and editor to the role, including more than a dozen years in association media.

Think Globally, Act Locally

The regulatory environment promotional products companies operate in is just as often shaped by local and state laws and directives as it is by federal regulations. As community members, industry businesses and professionals are well positioned to identify local issues that affect their operations and to speak on the industry's behalf at the local and state level, as well as in Washington. PPAI wants to know what's happening in your backyard, and the Association is looking for promo pros who are willing to stand up for the industry and share insights on the issues that affect their businesses.

Public Affairs Events, Conferences And Volunteers

PPAI's Legislative Education and Action Day (LEAD)

PPAI's Legislative Education and Action Day (LEAD) heads to Capitol Hill each year to share the significant impact of the promo industry with lawmakers and their staff. Discussions focus on the entrepreneurial spirit within our industry, the complexities of global supply chains, and the undeniable effectiveness of promotional products.

 

The 2025 LEAD will be held April 7-8 in Washington, D.C.

Government Relations Action Council

The Government Relations Action Council (GRAC) was established to support and drive the industry in identifying and influencing legislation and regulations affecting the promotional products industry at all levels of government. It's volunteer members come from a broad cross section of the promotional products industry's businesses and organizations.

Danny Rosin is co-owner of Brand Fuel, a Raleigh-based distributor that is a proud certified B Corp. He serves on the PPAI board and will be chair in 2026. He is the co-founder of Band Together, a nonprofit that has donated $15 million to nonprofits through live music experiences. He serves on the board of A Place at The Table, a “pay what you can” café and is advisor to Gabi’s Pals, a nonprofit that empowers people with special abilities through fulfillment programming. He is also the co-founder of these social impact orgs: PromoKitchen, PromoCares, Reciprocity Road and Operation Smile International’s Student Programs. Danny was recognized with the Ted Olden Humanitarian Award in 2023. He is married with two teenage daughters and has come to grips with the idea that well-behaved women rarely make history.
