PPAI’s annual Distributor Sales Volume Estimate has officially determined 2022 to be a record year for promo. A big part of that is a reversal of a trend from 2021: Small businesses are back.

Despite extraordinary efforts to find new markets, products and clients, 2020 promotional products sales fell 19 percent from the year before, with large distributors reporting the steepest decline.

As small distributor sales weakened in 2019, the industry followed, producing the first downswing in sales in a decade.

Driven mostly by large distributor gains, the percentage increase in sales almost quadrupled over 2016.
