Summer Fridays at work may not be as hot as they once were, but many employees still want them. One survey by Monster found that 41% of employees say they most want full summer Fridays off, and 66% say this benefit helps boost their productivity.

Trey Morris, a VP/senior consultant for The Center for Sales Strategy, says even on summer Fridays, top sales performers put in the work. They’re driven, competitive, hard-working, positive and persuasive, making the most of every opportunity. You can join their ranks by doing a few things every single Friday.

In this issue of PromoPro Daily, we share Morris’ four Friday habits anyone can adopt to finish the week on a high note.

Start early, finish strong. Some people may like to coast on Friday, but top performers get after it. Morris recommends setting your alarm a little earlier to ensure you have enough time to tackle those items on your to-do list. Another idea? Schedule your day with meetings so you’re not tempted to fritter away the day.

Make cold calls. According to Morris, Fridays are great days to cold call and schedule meetings for the upcoming week. This can give you a leg up since you’ll be setting up meetings over the next several days. And, he says, since Fridays tend to be slower, you’re more likely to catch decision-makers at their desks.

Review and reflect. Take time every Friday to look back on the week. Make sure nothing has slipped through the cracks. If something important was left undone, take care of it now, Morris says. He also recommends reviewing your goals and setting new ones for the upcoming week. Knowing where you stand and what you’re working toward can give you clarity and purpose.

Plan for success. Before they wrap up for the weekend, Morris says the best salespeople have already started outlining their tasks for the next week. They want to be proactive instead of reactive. Start by creating a to-do list for Monday. This allows you to walk into the office with a focused mindset and a clear plan.

Whether you’re in the office, working remotely or plan to log off a bit early today, make sure you take care of the activities mentioned above. When you start early, make cold calls, review and plan for next week, you can hit your targets while still enjoying some summer magic.
