When Hurricane Helene ravaged Western North Carolina in the fall of 2024, local supplier Recover (PPAI 159420, Silver) leapt into action.
The company instantly leveraged its infrastructure, resources and platform to lead relief efforts. Even though it has been eight months since the destruction, Recover’s dedication to rebuilding its community hasn’t waned.
On May 9, the company partnered with the global nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation and Asheville Greenworks to plant 30 trees along the Hominy Creek Greenway, a 1.25-mile-long trail near Asheville, North Carolina, that suffered damage from the hurricane.
“As a company rooted in Western North Carolina, we’re committed to giving back to the place we call home,” says Bill Johnston, co-founder and president of Recover Brands.

“In addition to raising funds through our WNC Strong product line, supporting local businesses through our small business fundraiser and donating apparel to people in need, we’re excited to take direct action by getting our hands dirty and helping revitalize a beloved local green space.”
WNC Strong
Within a day of Hurricane Helene slamming Western North Carolina, Recover went live with its fundraising campaign – the firm has since raised more than $25,000 for relief efforts through its Western NC Strong T-shirts.
- The company also created custom shirts for 14 small businesses that were greatly impacted, and all proceeds of the shirts went directly to them.
- Furthermore, Recover has sold nearly 300 pairs of Western NC Strong Socks. For every pair sold, the company has donated a pair to someone in need in the affected area.
All the above is in addition to the 12,000 sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts and socks that Recover donated to the North Carolina Outdoor Recreation Coalition, a nonprofit trade association that has delivered essential items to those in need.
