Industry companies are working to develop environmentally-friendly production and supply chain practices. Recently, two promotional merchandise firms, a supplier and a distributor, have announced partnerships with environmental impact organization veritree to not only bolster the sustainability of their operations, but to also provide evidence-based verification of their projects.

What Is veritree?

veritree is a data-driven, restorative platform that connects companies with nature-based solutions – action that results in either avoided deforestation or enhancing a carbon sink through reforestation or ecosystem restoration – to meet their sustainability goals.

  • A for-profit company, veritree works with planting organizations across the world to fund the programs between purchase of seeds, operate nurseries, conduct planting work, provide training to local farmers and protect the planting site to ensure high survival rates.
  • The company uses on-the-ground monitoring and blockchain verification to improve transparency and trust through data and tools that revitalize ecosystems, strengthen communities and build climate solutions.
  • veritree scales consumer-centric planting organizations and corporations around the world. veritree’s mission is to restore the planet, planting and verifying one billion trees within the decade.

Sustainable Promo

Oxnard, California-based supplier ETS Express, part of Polyconcept North America, announced its veritree partnership in conjunction with Earth Day. ETS Express cited veritree’s transparency in explaining its decision to collaborate with the company.

  • The partnership supports verified tree or kelp planting for every order placed.
  • Their collaboration is part of a broader focus on sustainability at ETS Express.

“We’ve been a reusable drinkware company since day one, so sustainability is part of our DNA,” says Adam Stone, ETS Express’s vice president of sales. “With that said, we need to do more. Partnering with veritree gives us the ability to work with reputable partners participating in restorative projects around the world – including the US and Canada – plus, the company provides verified data based on participation.

“I think it’s important for us and the industry to provide more transparency as it relates to giveback programs, and veritree gives us this ability.”

Fairware Promotional Products, a Vancouver-based distributor, has also announced a partnership with veritree. Beginning in January 2023, Fairware is planting 10 kelp for every order it invoices. The distributor’s investment in veritree is part of a suite of initiatives at the company, ranging from being living wage certified to purchasing renewable energy credits that it undertakes as part of being a change-driven organization.

“As we look for solutions for our climate strategy, veritree was an obvious fit,” says Denise Taschereau, CEO and co-founder of Fairware. “Their sister company tentree has been a long-time supplier partner of ours for sustainable apparel and accessories. We’re excited that we can bring transparent, verified nature-based solutions to our climate strategy.”

Earlier this year, San Francisco distributor Social Imprints announced that it had partnered with veritree to regenerate the world’s forests and create jobs for planters. As part of the partnership, Social Imprints pledged to plant 40,000 mangrove trees – almost 50 acres worth – of forest in Mombasa, Kenya in 2023.
