Gemline Introduces Carbon Footprint Data At The Product LevelGemline (PPAI 113948, Platinum) – the No. 11 supplier in the 2024 PPAI 100 – has introduced carbon footprint/emissions data at the product level, and tracking the carbon emissions of their products throughout their lifecycle – from raw material sourcing to distribution, a process known as “cradle-to-gate.”
- Gemline’s tracking, measured in kilograms of CO2, is currently displayed on the product pages of more than 100 of the company’s products, with plans to double the number in the coming months and, ultimately, extend the initiative to all of its products.
“Quantifying and communicating the carbon impact of our products is a critical step towards achieving greater transparency in our industry and helping all of us better understand and eventually reduce our scope 3 emissions,” says Frank Carpenito, CEO and president of Gemline. “Our first-to-market introduction of product level carbon footprint/emissions data will enable us to provide our distributor partners with important information they can share with their end clients to help them make more environmentally responsible choices.
“This initiative not only reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, but supports our betterway corporate social responsibility goals of bettering people, planet, and product.”
The supplier launched the betterway program last year, streamlining its corporate social responsibility programs.
