More than one million homes and businesses in the Northeast are without power today in the wake of Winter Storm Quinn, which has dumped as much as three feet of heavy, wet snow in some areas, according to news reports. The storm has also made travel extremely difficult from Pennsylvania to Maine, causing the closing of schools and some businesses across the region.
Supplier Promovision (PPAI 112616) in Billerica, Massachusetts, is experiencing storm-related problems with its phone system. It says crews are working on resolving the problem and asks customers to contact them through email. Supplier Symbio (PPAI 111042) in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, was closed on Wednesday but reopened just an hour late today. Supplier Peerless Umbrella Co. (PPAI 112666) in Newark, New Jersey, was also closed yesterday but has reopened.
Snow and strong winds in other parts of the northern U.S. had the potential for delivery delays, but at least one company took the opportunity to shine. Darrell McChesney, account executive at Team Iowa, an iPromoteu affiliate, says that weather issues in Minnesota’s Twin Cities on Tuesday caused FedEx and UPS trucks to be pulled off the road, delaying his order from Showdown Displays.
“It was no fault to Showdown, just darn Mother Nature not playing nice,” he says. “However, the best part of the story is the gang at Showdown reprinted the order today and put it on a truck to ship overnight to still arrive tomorrow. This is what top-shelf service is all about. Shari, Dawn, Scott, Darrell and Peter, plus all the others that I’m missing or don’t even know about, go above and beyond on every order to make sure the client is happy. Their work makes me look good as well. Many thanks for all they do for us in this industry.”
